So as we prepare to celebrate his first Father’s Day, I felt it only appropriate to ask HIM what he has learned since becoming a dad, and what fatherhood really means. "Living life through your eyes has been my life's joy. I cherish every memory with you." "Being a father has been the pride of my life. No other accomplishment compares to being your dad." "Guiding you through life will be my greatest joy and my deepest challenge. I pray I am worthy of it for you, my child." "The birthday of my child is the day I because a dad. No other day will ever mean as much to me as this one."

We do know that these loving fathers are the ones who are really contributing to the strengthening of family life, thus greatly assisting in the decrease in criminal activities. These are the fathers who know that the "good old days" were not all that good, and that to maintain a healthy family life requires one to take a new look at the way we do things. The habits and traditions of the "good old days" did very little to strengthen families. We often think of a mother’s love in colorful, warm, and tender terms; but we are reluctant to do the same for fathers. It was God’s design for a father’s love to complement a mother’s love. He has also taught me the power of love and faith. What I loved about him was that he supported my interests and activities (electronics!) as he as was an engineer. I wished I had developed a stronger communication and bond with him in my teenage years – but that is easy to say now that my adolescent years are past. The original plan was that both parents would creatively weave their different ways of loving into a tapestry of knitted emotions, verbal expressions, affectionate displays, and intellectual harmony. There would be no competition, nor lack of love from either side. This type of loving would create a family chemistry that would ride through the roughest storms and sail over the darkest clouds.

He can remember every relative’s phone number and we have a lot of them. I would also like to mention someone who has touched my life in a remarkable way. He embraced me with love and support when I felt the world abandoned me during my trials. His name is Ramsawak Hayban and even though he is in another world, I feel he is still with me guiding and protecting me with his love and care where I am.

Every single decision “Daddy-man” has made and he continues to make, is with his daughter’s best interest in mind. He has sacrificed so much of his own life to make sure he gives his daughter what she needs to thrive in the world. The baby soon began to crawl and then she toddled and then she walked, and when she first said “daddy”, his world was turned upside down with pride! She soon began calling her father “Daddy-man”, a name that stuck throughout her young childhood years, and which even today, as he’s reading this, I’m sure still brings tears of love to his eyes.

Unlike girls, who model their relationships with others based on their father’s character, boys model themselves after their father’s character. Boys will seek approval from their fathers from a very young age. As human beings, we grow up by imitating the behavior of those around us; that’s how we learn to function in the world. If a father is caring and treats people with respect, the young boy will grow up much the same.

I wish all the new fathers and seasoned veterans a Happy Father’s Day…and to my love, a special first one… nother first to add to the list. Most people who were raised with a loving father already know this in their hearts, but in case there’s any doubt, just check online. Yes, his personal sacrifices have been and still are many. Often times the loneliness in his home when his daughter is not there is tough for him to handle. There are days when his heart breaks and he truly struggles just to get through the day.

"Even the best dads make mistakes. But there is no mistaking their love for their children." They also have a healthy familiarity with the world of men – they don’t wonder how a man’s facial stubble feels or what it’s like to be hugged by strong arms. This knowledge builds emotional security as well as safety from the exploitation of predatory males. Material provision can be tough when jobs are lost and tough times hit.

But he does his best to fill his home with her favorite treats during the days and nights his daughter is there. He knows how important healthy food and exercise the love of a Father are for both of them and he does his best, never asking for help from anyone.
